What’s on, where and when and for whom?
Below are the events for the next half-year for the Birmingham support group of the FHT. The events are open to everyone; FHT members, students, members of other therapy associations and the general public. Many of the talks lead onto full day or weekend workshops for those wishing to take certain subjects a little further. The entrance fee for each of the talks is £3 for students/concessions, £4 for FHT members and £5 for non-members. Topic: Tuina Chinese Massage – Anna Chan
Tuina is a vigorous, energising system of massage that has been described as “leaving your body feeling as if it has been thoroughly Spring cleaned”. Although uncommon in the West, the story is very different in China where it originated. Here Tuina is a main stream treatment as well respected as Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.
The words “tui” and “na” literally mean to push and grasp! The treatment, normally performed with the client fully clothed, focuses upon the meridian lines and acupressure points Tuina is routinely used in Chinese hospitals primarily to treat pain but also in the treatment of many other conditions.
Anna Chan is an experienced and qualified practitioner of Tuina Chinese Massage and she is looking forward to talking about her work and providing a practical demonstration.

Topic: Thermal Stone Massage - Greta Harrison
Imagine the blissful feeling of smooth, hot stones placed on your forehead or back and you will imagine how very relaxing and therapeutic this treatment is. The stones used are often basalt which are volcanic, thereby retaining their heat for as long as possible, which is incredibly relaxing for the nervous system. Greta is looking forward to demonstrating this speciality massage and sharing her knowledge with you.

Topic: Craniosacral Therapy - Tam Glenn and Katy Orr
Craniosacral therapy is a non-manipulative but powerful body-therapy. Evolving out of osteopathy, it enables the therapist to refine their perceptual skills so that they may detect and aid the release of tensions and constrictions that are expressed within subtle movements in a clients body.
A powerful and effective holistic treatment for a wide range of ailments ranging from physical to emotional. Treating new born babies right through to more senior aged clientel.
Tam Glenn and Katy Orr are fully qualified practitioners of Biodynamic Cranioscral therapy and have busy clinics in Harborne, Northfield and Kings Heath.

Topic: Baby Massage - Lynne Hancher
An introduction to Baby Massage and how massage techniques can be adapted to suit newborn babies to help with the nurturing, bonding and wellbeing of mother and baby.
Lynne is a very experienced and knowledgeable Holistic Therapist who injects lots of fun and enthusiasm into her talks.
