Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage

What is Remedial Massage?

The application of deep tissue massage and manipulation for pre-event and post-event treatment is very beneficial indeed and great care should be taken to ensure that the practitioner is sensitive and sympathetic to the nature of the client's lifestyle as well as their history of sports and previous experiences of injury and recovery.

The treatment always begins with a full personal assessment and detailed lifestyle and health analysis. Physical examination along with muscle testing is carried out and at treatment plan formulated.

A wide range of appropriate manipulative techniques are employed along with gentle, soothing massage to assist the healing process, tone and condition muscles, help to assist pain reduction and maximise painless joint mobility,

A follow-up and home exercise programme will be put together and the client's progress will be closely monitored to ensure that everything possible is being carried out to arrive at the desired outcome.

Sports and remedial massage therapies are very beneficial for anyone who suffers from muscular and joint injuries either through athletics/sports or exercise, or possibly through repetitive strain incurred at work. The level of massage is generally more vigorous than that used in Swedish Massage and the manipulative techniques and mobility exercises.
